Faolan

Faolan groupe de musique irlandaise (Bénédicte Lécroart : chant guitare bodhran, Céline Rivaud : violon, Baptiste Rivaud : flûte whistles Philippe Hunsinger : bouzouki) propose airs de danses et chansons, traditionnels et compositions originales

Faolan quickly found its place among the most prestigious of its predecessors. The band made its debut in clubs and festivals under the name “Up Ya Boya”. Faolan is now back with a new harvest of traditional songs and personal compositions.

Faolan brings together a superb voice, inspired compositions and elaborate arrangements. Add to this the great instrumental skills displayed by each musician in the band: FAOLAN is more than likely to satisfy the most demanding fans of Celtic music.

The band’s originality stems from the musical background of each member:

Bénédicte Lécroart

The band’s singer, Bénédicte Lécroart, initially began as a jazz singer (winning the award for best soloist in "Jazz de la Défense" in Paris). She has a career as a backing vocalist for such “chanson francaise” celebrities as Patricia Kaas, Michel Fugain, and Gilbert Bécaud. She was also involved in dubbing singing voices, notably "the Beauty" in the French version of the Walt Disney film “The Beauty and the Beast”). Bénédicte loves Celtic music and is thrilled to lend her magnificent voice to the band.

Céline Rivaud

After teaching the violin at Centre for Traditional Music in Ris Orangis, Céline Rivaud joined the band Inis. She quickly received attention for the broad and subtle range of sonorities she draws out of her violin, and subsequently became a member of Dirty Linen and (later) Mugar. Céline composes Faolan’s original titles together with Philippe. She has a passion for all musics of oral tradition, and for Irish music in particular.

Philippe Hunsinger

A skillful guitarist, Philippe Hunsinger fell in love with the bouzouki through such masters as Donal Lunny, Paul Brady, Andy Irvine, Alec Finn. He is the composer and arranger of the band, and dedicated his skills to diverse musical experiences, such as O’Stravaganza, Le Gop, Mugar etc. He also played in duo with Paddy Keenan and Matt Molloy.

Baptiste Rivaud

After studying the cello for fifteen years, Baptiste became infatuated with the flute through Gipsy and Irish music. He’s hungry for new musical experiences, and also is a member of “Anios", "Keeva” along with dancing company “Celti’c Dance Company”.

For bigger events, outdoor concerts and festivals, Faolan is joined by highly skilled musicians Ronan Le Bars (uilleann pipes and low whistle) and Olivier Moret (double bass).
